This song is cooooll. Childish but hey, what's wrong with being a small kid again?!! This one is in French. My son prefers the one in German better though coz it pronounces 'penguin' similar to English.

Society-Family pressure

Recently, I had a long cousin to cousin chat with my younger cousin who studies at a university. It seems that the main content of our chat revolves around society-family pressure. Despite our age gap, I can totally relate to my cousin coz I feel the society-family pressure, too. I believe that some parents try too hard to ensure that their kids become a SOMEBODY. I guess it is more apparent among Asians because most Asians hang on to this thing called FACE VALUE. A successful son or daughter brings honour to the family and gives credit to the parents. Of course, as a parent, too, I agree that parents should play their part to make sure that their kids do their best to become successful, respectable adults. However, pushing your children too hard and expecting too much from them will not only put pressure in the children's life but most importantly it will also cause a strain in the parent-children relationship. To parents who belong in this category of overprotective or pushy parents, please chill out, especially if your kids are teenagers, young adults, or already fully adults.
Love them, guide them but don't totally control them, advise them but don't dictate them, support them, listen to what they have to say but don't constantly criticize them, accept them as they are and have some respect for them as individuals, help them but don't suffocate them. Quit being so disappointed in your child. Even the youngest school kid can sense that his parents are unhappy with his Cs and Ds. Just because other kids perform a whole lot better it doesn't straight away mean that your child is STUPID. Most of all, I believe parents must make themselves available and not be too judgmental so that their children will always enjoy talking to them...

What Betty said

I have alot going on with me right now. I quit my job two months ago. I haven't spoken to my father for almost 3 weeks. My mother is extremely worried that I'm unemployed and treats the situation as major disaster. For a long time I have been unwell and depressed. I'm trying to make things better, physically and mentally. Despite pressure contributed by health isuues and my parents, I try to live my life and make decisions that I see as the best for myself and my family. I can relate to a particular episode from Ugly Betty in which Betty's sister, Hilda, lost her job and felt hopeless. I remember Betty saying something like this to Hilda, "You are 30. You are going through some changes. I promise you will turn out better on the other side." Those words felt true to me. I look forward to become better and to have so many more good things in the future. Thanks, Betty!
Finally

Wow..my last entry was on Sanjaya. It's been a while. Well, Jordin is the new American Idol. I'm glad she won because she fits the mold of an American Idol but I sense some sort of fakeness about this young girl. She's like too sweet, like she's forcing herself to appear all sugary and nice. Oh, perhaps she's just young and excited about everything. Unlike many people who reach 30s, the world seem to be putting a whole lot of pressure on you. Ah, well...congratulations, Jordin. Now, excuse me, I need to read some books on life motivation and happiness...

No more Sanjaya
People of the world, Sanjaya is finally out. No more guessing if he might possibly be the next American Idol. Well, Simon seems happy about it. Err..me,too. He may be interesting to watch but he can't compete with the remaining contestants. I bet Sanjaya will still be around in showbiz. We'll see again that wide grin and the hair, of course.
